  I had enough beer today. My brother brews his own and we were hangin' out.

  He ruined me for store bought beer. It can't compare to his.

  Little Drummer Boy

  Wish I could remember the name of it.

  Must have been in the 70's...I guess.

  Story:

  A family move into a house with a bricked up fireplace. Husband takes the bricks away, and they find out that it is a doorway straight to Hell.

  At night, hordes of these little 1 foot tall demons come out of the fireplace and try to drag people down into hell.

  The wife gets caught one night, and they drag her towards the fireplace, but she manages to snag a camera along the way. Whenever she sets off the flash, they let go of her for a little while, but not for long.

  I don't remember the ending even.

  Gotta be 25 years ago that I saw that movie and it still gives me the willies at times.

  Wish I knew the name of it.

  hi guys,.

  just wanted to let you know that i hope things go well for you both with the bi-polar treatments and so on.. i had mentioned that i would try to be there for you guys if you needed help since i'm bi-polar and i understand a bit.. unfortunatley, it looks like i'm done with jwd.. i can't take it anymore.. it is tearing me up and has become toxic for me.. i have been feeling this coming for a while.. i won't be checking pm's or anything.. i wish you both the best.. please take care of yourselves!.

  Unfortunatley, it looks like I'm done with JWD.

  I can't take it anymore.

  It is tearing me up and has become toxic for me.

  I have been feeling this coming for a while.

  Nosy questions for the Americans

  following on from the thread the other week with questions for the brits, i thought i'd ask a few i'd like to know about you, just call me a nosey bag!.

  1. as you don't have nhs, what happens if a sick child was in a medical emergency, is there a charity that covers them or will treatment sometimes get withheld if there is no insurance?.

  I remeber being in NY, my step brotehr got turned away from a medical centre as he had a type of medical insurance that the centre did not accept. He was only 5 and it was in the early hours of the morning. What was that all about?

  Well, I wasn't there, but there are medical centers (which conjure up an idea of something less than an emergency) and then there are emergency rooms (anything from small injuries, broken bones, to life threatening injuries)...and they are 2 different things depending on how you look at it.

  I wouldn't expect to be turned away at an emergency room (found in a hospital) if I didn't have insurance.

  I would expect that a medical center (clinic or urgent care center) would get pissy if I tried to pull that on them. Although, if I was laying there on their floor having a heart attack, I doubt they would stop and ask for my insurance card. They would probably just get pissy after they saved my life.

  I believe that there is a misconception that since the US doesn't have universal health care that people in emergency situations can't get help if they can't pay for it. That isn't true. Ask any illegal immagrant what happened when they went to an emergengy room to have their baby born even though they didn't have insurance. Well, they got their baby delivered, that's what happened. It is ongoing treatment or non-emergency treatment that is the real issue. And if you are poor enough, or can work the system enough, you can get ongoing care. We have community clinics (and I have used them myself when I qualified based on my income). I didn't like it because the facilities weren't all that nice, and the doctors didn't give quite as good of care as I would have gotten if I could have paid for it at another facility (this is due to the quantity of patients, not because the doctors didn't care). But I did get rudimentary healthcare and I don't think that I got short changed all that much (it was very low cost, after all).

  In the US, it is the lower middle class that are really pinched the worst. Sometimes they make just enough money to not qualify for assistance programs, but not enough money to comfortably afford insurance. That is a hard situation to be in (been there done that myself).

  As far as fish 'n chips...Long John Silvers is the closest thing, but they really don't have the same sort of "grab it and go" kind of feel.

  let me explain myself... for instance when your friends and family keep changing their minds... like my sister she didn't want to talk to me, then we started talking again and now she is back to shunning me.

  same with my once best friend we were fine with each other's beliefs then one night she tells me in order to have god's favor she has to shun me.

  now she's talking to me again.

  on the strength that my recent post concerning cheetos went to 3 pages and was referenced in at least 3 other threads, i feel that the time has come to discuss another most important topic: shower soap.. this thread topic most definitely falls under the category of intellectual starvation topics, so you should be forewarned that terry will not approve.

  heh...(just funnin' yah terry).

  to the point: i here refer to a liquid soap meant to be applied to a wet shower poof and then scrubbed onto the skin.
